Driftwood Cottage is a fabulous coastal holiday home in Shaldon, a very stylish seaside village on the banks of the River Teign.
Accommodation is stunning… laid out over three floors; the four spacious bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished and include a master bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor. The contemporary loft style living and kitchen is amazing, positioned on the second floor, a lovely sociable space, with plenty of seating for eight guests, a great spot to chill at the end of the day with access onto the garden.
Step outside and the cottage has a wonderful private south facing deck which comes complete with sun loungers, barbeque and a large table and chairs… perfect for alfresco dining or relaxing after a busy day on the beach.
Driftwood Cottage is quite unique and offers flexible holiday living with the local shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants just a 5 minute walk away. Nearby Shaldon beach is great for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking - perfect for children too, try rock pooling at nearby Ness Cove.
Shaldon is a quaint little fishing town which lies opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. It’s a great place for walking too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal strolls right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18 hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment! Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions.

Absolutely wonderful week at Driftwood Cottage. The accommodation was perfect - large kitchen diner on the top floor with incredible views, my husband and I were on the middle floor with our two children (who had a bedroom each) and my Mother was on the ground floor with her own shower room and a bit of privacy! Property was very clean and had all the things you would need for a week’s stay. Loved the little touches - I’d forgotten my daughter’s bedtime books but needn’t have worried as the bookshelf full of children’s stories would’ve kept her occupied for 52 weeks. Huge choice of DVDs and Now TV was also fantastic. Shaldon is a very pretty town - enjoyed the ferry over to Teignmouth and also the local zoo. The wonderful Babbacombe Model Village was a short drive away, as was the Exe Cycle Trail. Would undoubtedly return - wonderful!
This property was also on Air B&B. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to find out from the owners that the property was also registered with you. Your staff are charming efficient and helpful. My house was recently burned down and with it my passport which was required by Air B&B. It began to be a living nightmare trying to book. There was no provision for such a circumstance and no way of speaking to anyone, which is what you need in such a situation. Especially as Christmas was approaching and all the properties were getting booked. Since the fire, I no longer have the use of my family home and with my granddaughter coming from Iceland to spend Christmas with us, it was vital to secure a rental property. We had the loveliest Christmas with some family friends who own a farm only 15 minutes drive from the cottage so it was perfect. We love your agency and God forbid that you should ever be eclipsed by the problematic and dehumanised Air B&B. There is simply no comparison with the service you provide. Thank you very much.
Driftwood Cottage has been perfect for us. We loved the views and the airiness upstairs. The cottage was very well equipped - just what we needed after a long journey. We loved Shaldon and used the very good local shops - long may they last! Trip on the ferry and Teignmouth was fun and it was the post-wedding get-together and swim on Ness Beach. Thank you!
Walking through the door of Driftwood was to walk into a calm, safe harbour hopefully giving a basis of strength to move into my exciting new home. Have loved every moment.
