Oyster Cottage is a a beautiful property which dates back to the 19th century but a far cry from its former self… today this lovely house is totally charming, packed with beach hut styling.
The delightful holiday home is in the heart of Shaldon with all amenities - beach, cafes, shops and restaurants within a short walk. The village also has a butcher, baker and grocers selling local produce and Shaldon is earning quite a reputation as a premiere foodie destination!
Oyster Cottage is kitted out in nautical style - step inside the blue front door and the interior is light and spacious offering plenty of room for 4/6 people. The two bedrooms and fabulous shower room are on the ground floor with living accommodation to the first floor. The property has partial river views and overlooks the village green in Shaldon, a popular spot and a great place for picnics. The vaulted ceiling in the open plan living and kitchen area makes for a sociable space with a couple of sofas, sofa bed (for additional guests) and TV. The kitchen is well equipped with all moderns appliances including waste disposal, washing machine and dishwasher. The contemporary circular dining table is a perfect addition to the room, sitting adjacent to the expansive full height window - you can take in the views over breakfast.
Shaldon is a quaint little fishing village opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, it’s easy to hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. The area is popular with walkers too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal strolls right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment!
Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports. It’s possible to arrive at Shaldon by public transport via Teignmouth with trains operating to Exeter, Plymouth and London and the ferry service from Teignmouth to Shaldon Beach.
Shaldon is very well connected, with road links, close proximity to Exeter Airport and easy access to the mainline train stations in Teignmouth and Newton Abbot.

Living room: Open plan, raised vaulted ceiling, comfortable sofas and chairs, sofa bed, flat screen TV/DVD.
Kitchen: High spec appliances, waste disposal, washing machine and dishwasher. Dining table for six (plus a high chair if needed), large floor to ceiling opening window.
Utility area off kitchen: Washing machine, iron, airer and vacuum cleaner.
Outside: The property overlooks the village green, there is no private garden.
Parking: Street parking available outside the cottage & around the green or residential roads in close proximity to the cottage. Alternatively, a week's parking permit can be purchased for The Ness car park which is a 15 minute walk away.
Facilities and Services: WiFi connection available. All bed linen and bath towels included (beach towels not provided). Arr/dep for weekly bookings is Saturday. Short breaks available in low and mid season. Parking. Gardens. High chair and stair gate available. No pets.
