Access Statement

The nearest bus stop is on Bridge Road Shaldon which is about 200 metres from the entrance. 

The nearest train station is in Teignmouth about 1.5 miles from the cottage. There are accessible taxis at the station and Telephone numbers of Taxis displayed on the cottage noticeboard

We provide a welcome pack of Tea, Coffee, Milk and a Cream Tea, there is a small supermarket, Butchers and Bakers in Shaldon.

Teignmouth provides a greater variety of shops and supermarkets


Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Parking is difficult in Shaldon, the Shipwrights Arms Car Park can be used for loading and unloading only

Street Parking is available near the cottage or public car parks at King George V Car Park (5 minutes walk) or the Ness Car Park (15 minutes walk).




The entrance to the cottage is through a small gate (width  85cms) via the front patio one step height 12cm


Keys & Front Door

Keys to the cottage are held in a Key Safe on a pillar to the left of the front to door (number provided by Discovery Holiday Homes)

The front door has two locks both of which need to be locked when leaving the cottage, The threshold step is (height) The door is 84cm wide and the key hole locks are 124cm and 83cm high

The Living Area is open plan with the lounge, dining and kitchen.



Furniture is moveable and all is non feather.

One double sofa and two easy chairs provided with arms

Flooring is short pile carpet throughout

TV provided with remote control with Netflix (also available is a DVD Player and radio)

Extendable Dining Table (moveable side to side) – legs on each corner, 74 cm floor to lowest point of table (underspace), 85 cm width, 112cm not extended 150cm extended

The table is free standing and can be moved away from the walls to allow free space around it.

Chairs (moveable) – 4 chairs with padded seat and no arms.

Further chairs with arms are available in the utility arae and the bedroom.

A charming property in an idyllic location, St Christopher’s Cottage is an authentic terraced house close to the river in Shaldon, a delightful coastal village on the South Devon coast.

The property has a pretty little courtyard garden with a path leading up to the front door. Step inside and relax… this is coastal charm - the living area is a lovely sociable space with an open fireplace for the cooler evenings and comfortable sofa and armchairs. The beamed living area incorporates the dining table and chairs and fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs the stylish master bedroom is decorated in a coastal palette with soft grey and white furnishings and pretty bedding, basket chair and feature Victorian fireplace. The theme continues into the second bedroom with muted tones of soft beige and blue.

The cottage interior retains a homely cottage feel throughout, the perfect choice for a family or two couples looking to spend a few days immersed in coastal living.

Shaldon is the perfect village for a coastal break with shops, cafes and restaurants just a short stroll away-  the nearby Shipwright Arms a good option for lunch or dinner. Walk along the riverside or head out on the nearby South West Coastal Path for some breathtaking views along the south Devon coast. Alternatively get out on the water and try canoeing, sailing and other water sports available. Shaldon also has a park, a 9-hole golf course, a charming local zoo, a host of lovely beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit during August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta! Shaldon is within a 20 minute drive of Torquay and numerous National Trust attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports.

A regular passenger ferry service runs from Shaldon to Teignmouth (with trains operating to Exeter, Plymouth & London).

This pet friendly property sits alongside Star Cottage, both can be booked together to accommodate 8 people.

Bedroom 2: Captains bed which can be made up as a double or two singles - more suitable for children as has 2'6ft and a pull out single bed (please request bedding arrangements on booking), a built in wardrobe and dressing table area.

Outside: Small front courtyard garden with table and chairs.

Parking: Free public road parking can be found just a short walk away,

Facilities and services: Wifi connection available. Coastal property with sea views. balcony. Bed linen and towels provided (beach towels not provided). Arr/dep for weekly bookings is Saturday. Short breaks available in low and mid season. Front courtyard garden. High chair and travel cot available. No private parking. Will accept 2 pets. No smoking.

Security deposit: This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200, which is payable to Marsdens Devon Cottages with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure. Alternatively, you may wish to pay a non-refundable Accidental Damage Deposit Waiver equivalent to 10% of the Accidental Damage Deposit value, which covers you for the full value of the Accidental Damage Deposit, should any damage occur during your stay.
