Torquay like Rome was built on seven hills. Cary Court and the White House are situated up one of those hills and occupy a sloping site. Cary Court is a period property with later more modern extensions, The White House is one of the more modern extensions. The White House guests are welcome to share the garden year round from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm. and pool (seasonal) please enquire at time of booking Access is gained either via the main House or via a side gate to the garden. There are many “spiky” plants in the garden that may cause injury. As well as the outdoor pool there is a pond, when wet, boardwalks and decking may be hazardous to the unwary and or Children.

We do not allow pets of any kind at the White House. We do not cater for hen or stag groups or children under the age of ten or babies.

The White House is a very bright, comfortable ‘home from home’ laid out over 2 floors, with two en-suite bedrooms upstairs, and fully equipped kitchen diner and a lounge downstairs. Guests can enjoy relaxing with in the private yard to the rear of the property, perfect for enjoying a summer barbecue. From the upstairs bedrooms one can enjoy tantalising views over the rooftops of Torquay, as well as far reaching sea peeps. The welcoming lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the English Riviera, watching your favourite TV shows or snuggled up on the cosy corner sofa. The owners have welcomed for around 40 years, and this is truly felt from the moment you enter the courtyard, so much that you won’t want to leave! The house offers everything you need for the perfect holiday – within just a stones’ throw you’ll find a wide variety of local shops, cafés and restaurants, all in a truly relaxing setting. And to top things off, guests have complimentary access to a shared heated outdoor swimming pool surrounded by exotic plants in the sub-tropical gardens.

Accommodation: Ground floor. Three steps up to the entrance door that leads to open plan dining area and kitchen. Kitchen: electric hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer (70/30), dishwasher, washer dryer. Dining area has table with 4 chairs and door leading to sitting room. Lounge - corner sofa, an armchair, coffee table, smart TV (46’’) with Freeview. Door leading to hallway with stairs up to the 1st floor. Exit to enclosed gravelled rear garden with BBQ. First floor: The master bedroom with a king size bed, bedside tables, chair, dressing table, a walk in wardrobe and TV. En-suite bathroom with walk in shower, wash-hand basin and WC. Other bedroom has two single beds that can be used as one King size bed by prior arrangement (zip&link), chest of drawers, TV and a hanging rail. En-suite bathroom with walk in shower cubicle, wash-hand basin and WC.

Facilities and Services: Linen and towels. Electric CH. Wi-Fi Broadband. No smoking. Regret no pets. Children must be supervised at any times. Garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car in front of the house, other by prior arrangement. Short breaks available out of peak season. 3 PM arrival time. 11 AM Departure time. Friday changeover days for weekly bookings.This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200, which is payable to Marsdens Devon Cottages with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure. Alternatively, you may wish to pay a non-refundable Accidental Damage Deposit Waiver equivalent to 10% of the Accidental Damage Deposit value, which covers you for the full value of the Accidental Damage Deposit, should any damage occur during your stay. Communal Garden area & Outdoor Swimming pool: Swimming pool & sub-tropical garden area is shared with the attached B&B. Guests are welcome to share the garden year round and pool (seasonal due to weather conditions~May-September from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm). Please bare in mind that some sharper plants in the garden may cause injury. As well as the outdoor pool there is a pond and, when the weather is wet, boardwalks and decking may be slippery, and guests use of these areas is at their own risk.


The White House is a beautiful property. The bedding and towels were exceptional. Wanted for nothing. Everything you could possibly want or need is included in this property.. The hosts were very lovely people and very helpful. A lovely touch was a hamper which included cream scones, bread, tea bags, coffee etc etc. It really was home from home and we would def go back and recommend.
