A spacious family holiday home with indoor heated swimming pool, in the former woollen town of Chudleigh with the country walks on your doorstep and the beach in reach.

The Old Chapel ticks all the boxes - perfect for guests in search of a large period property in a good location with all local amenities on the doorstep. The fabulous pool house is fabulous, a great place to get together and enjoy some fun with family and friends. It’s rare to find a property with a pool, sauna and games room for your sole use!!

Over time, The Chapel has been extended and transformed into a unique holiday home with ample accommodation for up to 16 people in 6 bedrooms - two with ensuites and 4 separate bathrooms. The gardens are extensive and there’s plenty of parking on the driveway.

The property is within walking distance to the shops, pubs and restaurants of this ancient town. We recommend visiting Exeter, with its first class university and beautiful cathedral and green, museums and galleries. The lovely Northernhay Gardens on the northern side of Rougemont Castle are the oldest public gardens in England so well worth a stroll. It’s also a great place to shop and stop off for lunch with some excellent cafes, restaurants and stylish shops.

Chudleigh, known as 'The Gateway to Haldon', is a market town steeped in history and perfectly placed for visiting Dartmoor and the South West. Visit nearby Ugbrooke House and Gardens (open Jul - Sep), Haldon Forest Park with cycle hire and miles of woodland tracks, GoApe Forest Adventure, Virtual Jet Centre, Finlake Riding Centre and brilliant outdoor activities including climbing, at The Rock Centre. There are 3 golf courses all within a 6 mile radius, plus plenty of scenic walking on Dartmoor and along The South West Coastal Path, not forgetting the 22 miles of South Devon beaches!

Eating out is a real treat - from pub fare and fish & chips to a Michelin starred restaurant Gidleigh Park, and everything in between. Try the Riverford Farm & Field Kitchen Restaurant in Buckfastleigh, specialising in dishes prepared from locally grown organic veg and meat from local farms.

Dining Hall: Vaulted pine panelled ceiling, tiled flooring, extensive windows, sliding patio doors leading out to the garden, table and chairs which can seat 16 guests.

Kitchen: Farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room with matching base and wall units, an attractive central island with storage and an induction hob in a granite work surface, integrated double oven and dishwasher, large American style fridge/freezer plus kitchen dining for up to 8 guests.

Garden Room: Triple aspect with access and views to the enclosed garden. Large full HD TV with free Sky Q and Netflix package including movies & sports and a Blu-ray player with a library of DVDs.

Leisure facilities: Pool room - an extensive hall with pine panelled walls, spotlights, feature stained glass window, heated pool measuring 39' x 15' depth from 2'6" to 5' to 4' (both ends of the pool are the shallow points with the deepest zone in the middle). There is a gym area by the pool with cross trainer, rowing machine and exercise bike. Sauna and cloakroom.


Outside: Lawn with fruit trees, flowerbeds, a stream along the perimeter and a private gated access onto the cricket field and the countryside beyond. Rear enclosed Garden: areas of lawn, patio, BBQ area, new outdoor table & chairs and raised flowerbeds. Further garden accessed from the dining hall with paved patio, flower beds. Stream runs along the perimeter.


Parking: Private parking on the driveway.

Facilities and services: WiFi connection available. Bed linen and towels provided (pool towels also provided). Arr/dep for weekly bookings is Saturday. Short breaks available in low and mid season. Swimming pool - indoor heated. Private parking. Extensive gardens. Travel cot and highchair available. Will accept 2 pets. No smoking.

Security deposit: This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £350, which is payable to Marsdens Devon Cottages with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure.


Fantastic property, well equipped and loads of space for all 16 of us. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back again.
