This beautiful traditional barn has been sensitively converted retaining dark wood beams and floors and exposed whitewashed stone walls. The furnishings are exquisite - the open plan living area has a couple of comfortable sofas around the electric woodburning stove creating a lovely cosy area. The traditional country kitchen is classically beautiful and functional with cream cupboards, Belfast sink, dark wood dresser and circular dining table and chairs. The exposed beams and period features continue on the first floor landing and into the two bedrooms. The master has a king size four poster bed draped in cream and raspberry toile de Jouy fabric. The second bedroom has twin beds with traditional classic blue and white check headboards and white bedding.
Hutchinghayes Barn is in Combe Raleigh, a delightful village with close to Honiton, the historic town famed for its lace with some good restaurants and antique shops. The area is a good option of activities too with golf clubs, walking routes and bridleways. Devon is famous for its fabulous beaches - Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coast is just a short drive away and bird shoots and fishing on the River Exe and Barle.
Racing enthusiasts can check out the schedule at Exeter Racecourse on Haldon Hill, while those looking for a little retail therapy should head into Exeter with its great cafe culture, shops and beautiful cathedral.
Honiton offers easy access to the A30 (for London, the South West and the national road network) as well as to the M5 motorway. Serviced by a train station too, Honiton can easily be reached from London Waterloo in 2 hours, 45 minutes. Nearby Taunton (17 miles) offers a London Paddington service that takes just 1 hour 45 minutes. The holiday cottage is also easily accessible for those arriving by domestic or international flight; with Exeter and Bristol Airports nearby.

Outside: Italianate-style courtyard with a lake views. Guests also have access to the shared 32 acre grounds with lawns, lakes, woods and pasture.
Parking: Private garage. Other parking may be available, day guests are permitted by prior arrangement with the property owner only.

Please note: The property is in the same grounds as Hutchinghayes Farmhouse (Sleeps 8-10) which can also be booked with the Barn to offer more flexible accommodation for further guests (12 - 14 guests in total).
This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £200, which is payable to Marsdens Devon Cottages with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure. Alternatively, you may wish to pay a non-refundable Accidental Damage Deposit Waiver equivalent to 10% of the Accidental Damage Deposit value, which covers you for the full value of the Accidental Damage Deposit, should any damage occur during your stay.
After lockdown we were so happy to come to Hutchinghayes. It’s such a wonderful and beautiful place, a home away from home. We had an amazing week.
