Explore Dartmouth’s narrow, winding streets and browse the town’s twice-weekly market, selling local produce. Then head to the quayside for a river cruise to see this lovely town from the water. Catch a ferry across the estuary to Kingswear, where you can catch the atmospheric Dartmouth Steam Railway for a scenic return journey to the seaside resort of Paignton. There are two lovely National Trust properties nearby: Coleton Fishacre, which is a beautiful Art and Crafts house set in lush gardens (4 miles), and Greenway (5.5 miles), the former home and riverside garden of the great crime writer Agatha Christie.
