Cottages in Kingsbridge

Kingsbridge, just north of Salcombe, is a charming Devonshire town nestled in the green countryside, a perfect midway distance between the coast and Dartmoor. We have a select range of holiday cottages in the Kingsbridge area, which available to book all year round and are just as charming as their surroundings.

A great number of our Kingsbridge cottages are part of our luxury home portfolio, meaning they come with a range of extra special features, including hot tubs, games rooms, private gardens, not to mention the absolutely wonderous coastal views many of them boast. Luxury doesn’t mean you can’t bring pets or children along either, as many of our Kingsbridge cottages are both family and dog-friendly, so that no one gets left out of the adventure.

Things to Do in Kingsbridge

Kingsbridge originally took its name from an ancient bridge that was built to connect the two royal estates of Alvington and Chillington. Its history as a market town dates back to 1219, where the Abbot of Buckfast was granted the right to hold a market in Kingsbridge to sell the fruit, vegetables and honey they made.

Today, this friendly town in South Devon still keeps its old fashioned charm and historic character, with many of its historic buildings restored to their former glory. Look out for The Old Shambles and the Market Arcade in particular. You can also discover its past, with a visit to the Cookworthy Museum, which details the social and community history of Kingsbridge.

Kingsbridge is also a coastal town, situated around the Kingsbridge Estuary in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the stunning blue waters of the Estuary, water enthusiasts appreciate the many water sports on offer. For those who love a good stroll, along the coastal path, the most stunning views are only accessible by foot.

We also recommend planning your visit to catch one of the town’s busy markets or one of the many food festivals. There is a thriving arts and crafts community plus its farmers market offers the chance to sample its local produce.
