Description

Milk Churn is the former dairy on the Cockerham Estate and has been beautifully converted by the owners.  The cottage is situated next to Dolly's House on the Estate, which nestles in 15 acres of rolling Devon countryside, yet is easily accessed from the M5 in approx. half an hour whilst also being just a short drive from a good choice of places to visit and enjoy. Its location is well situated for exploring nearby Exmoor, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, consisting of romantic open moorland, ancient wooded valleys and stunning Heritage Coast. Exmoor is great for peace and tranquility but is also a haven for walkers and those looking for outdoor activities. Take a drive out to Lynton and Lynmouth and enjoy the stunning Valley of the Rocks. A good choice of shops, pubs and tearooms are to be found in the market town of South Molton, which is a short drive away. Slightly further afield is the riverside town of Barnstaple, with the golden sandy beaches of North Devon beyond, including the UK's best beach at Woolacombe (TripAdvisor reviews). The historic city of Exeter lies to the south east and is another day trip option.

An enjoyable feature of any stay at Cockerham will undoubtedly be the estates animals - alpacas, horses, chickens and a variety of birdlife. A number of the animals have been rescued and nursed back to health by the owners. You are more than welcome to watch the animals being fed, help collect the eggs and if you time it right, watch the alpacas being shorn in June. Also enjoy a Devon cream tea and welcome pack goodies on arrival.

Milk Churn has its own south facing patio area just outside its front door where you can sit and take in the view and perhaps relax with a glass of wine after a busy day. The estate offers guests the use of a shared tennis court, set in the landscaped gardens. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen and dining area which leads into a cosy sitting room area with a wood burner in the corner, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. On the first floor the double bedroom and twin bedded room share a bathroom. Milk Churn is perfect for couples to take holidays and breaks at any time of year.
