What sets Marsdens Devon Cottages apart, and gives our guests the confidence to book with us year after year, is the quality of our properties and the quality of our service.
We are proud of our portfolio of over 300 properties. However, that means nothing without our guests’ approval. Guests are very careful about how they spend their money and have increasingly high expectations. Many of our holiday properties enjoy high levels of repeat bookings year after year because homeowners have maintained high standards and we have worked together to ensure our guests enjoy consistently high standards.
To make sure the holiday accommodation we provide in Devon meets – or exceeds – their high expectations, we are members of the nationally recognised and trusted VisitEngland quality assurance scheme.
We have our own Quality Assessor who inspects all our properties annually to make sure they meet the required standards – from décor and furnishings to cleanliness. He then grades them with a VisitEngland star rating, and provides you with a report on his findings, which advises you how to maintain or improve your grade, and anything you may have to do to meet the requirements.
Our assessor grades according to VisitEngland criteria but works for us. Whilst he must stick to the grading criteria, he can advise you what investment would be required to achieve a better grade if you would like to, and give you time to make any changes before awarding a grade.
Our confidence in the benefits of Visit England grading is such that the whole Marsdens Devon Cottages portfolio is Visit England assessed. To take part in the star rating scheme each property must first meet a list of minimum requirements to even be considered for a star rating. If they don’t, we won’t take them on. We welcome properties which will achieve any star rating, so long as they met the minimum VisitEngland requirements and the high expectations of our customers. Most of our properties are 3*, 4* or 5*; we let very few 2* and do not let 1* star graded properties. All our properties are well presented, clean, and as described with everything working. Properties which are at the top end of 3*, 4* or 5* may also receive a gold award.
After guests stay with us, we ask them to fill in a short questionnaire to provide us with feedback on what they liked or disliked about a property, and our service. We then send this feedback to you quarterly, so you can be encouraged by the positive feedback and see what improvements guests suggest.
Customer Satisfaction is becoming even more important because of increased use of review sites. As well as asking for feedback, we are asking our guests to rate us using Feefo, and independent rating organisation, and we are proud to report that our score is exceptional.
