Description

Tucked away in one of Appledore's ancient narrow lanes this 17th Century property once belonged to the local sail maker. It's just a short stroll to the centre of the village where visitors will find several shops and cafes as well as an excellent food store selling delicious local produce. A wander through Appledore's winding cobbled streets to emerge at the quayside is always a pleasure. Here boats bob in the river with views across the estuary to Instow. Appledore has a rich maritime history dating back hundreds of years and the North Devon Maritime Museum is well worth a visit. Westward Ho! with its wide sand surfing beach and sea-side shops and cafes is five minutes drive away and nearby Skern Lodge offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages. The town of Bideford is easily accessible and has a greater selection of shops and restaurants as well as ferry trips from the port. Sailmakers Cottage is a historic property decorated in a modest older style. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and downstairs the cosy lounge has a wood burning stove and interesting picture displays. The kitchen leads out to a small courtyard and private terraced garden. There are 13 steps up to a level lawn and walled garden with a garden seat and more steep steps to another lawned area with garden furniture.
