This delightful cottage, as the name suggests, is a former coastguard's cottage in the small hamlet of Stoke between Hartland Quay and Hartland village. Very comfortable throughout, the living room benefits from a wood burning stove set in an attractive stone fireplace, surrounded by two terracotta coloured sofas. There is a separate dining room with a feature fireplace and a modern fitted well equipped kitchen. You can enjoy the countryside views to the sea beyond from the half landing leading to three attractive bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. Very large mature gardens extend some two hundred feet, with several sloping lawned areas with shrubs and small covered pond. A paved patio sits adjacent to the house to enjoy al fresco meals or simply relax on warm summer evenings. The scenery along this coastline is truly dramatic and Hartland Abbey, the pretty village of Clovelly and Speke Mill with its seventy-foot waterfall are close by. Some spectacular walks take in tiny coves and harbours, once the haunt of smugglers, and in such a wonderful location Coastguard Cottage is an ideal base at any time of year.
