The Shippen is furnished to a high standard in an attractive contemporary style. The open plan living/dining/kitchen is light and airy with a high apex ceiling and oak flooring with eco-friendly underfloor heating. An attractive bedroom with ensuite facilities overlooking adjoining countryside. Individual courtyard seating is a great place to relax and additional shared facilities include a large meadow useful for walking the dog or leisurely picnics. Offering easy access to picturesque coves, beautiful rolling countryside and many delightful villages and market towns. Secure storage for cycles, surfboards and kayaks and access to an outdoor water supply and a drying area also provide those looking for more active pursuits with the extra facilities needed for that special holiday. The owner's private smallholding adjacent includes a large Organic vegetable plot and greenhouse, chickens, geese, ducks, pigs, cats and dog. They have instituted a rolling management of hedges to encourage all kinds of wildlife and have positioned owl, bat, bird and nature boxes, and created covered shelters and small ponds for amphibians around the shared meadow. Guests are encouraged to use the newly built Owl observatory to enjoy the local wildlife and take advantage of the sunsets and dark skies to star gaze on clear evenings.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Shippen. The gifts (eggs, cake, milk & dog treats) were a life saver after a long journey. We were very impressed with the accommodation, so clean + modern! Whilst here we visited Bude, Westward Ho!, Appledore and Bideford. We had a lovely meal at the blue + green in Westward Ho! The dogs were allowed in the restaurant, staff were wonderful and welcoming, food delicious! Excellent. Stayed for 5 nights over Easter to explore the beautiful North Devon scenery. Absolutely loved it here from the minute we arrived. You want for nothing - and the many extra touches provided make it all more impressive. Nigel and Toni are very welcoming and have clearly worked to provide fabulous accommodation.
