Salcombe and Kingsbridge Cottages

Located at the most southernly tip of Devon in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by beautiful villages and a wonderful coastline, Salcombe is a fantastic holiday destination for visitors of all ages. Its extensive waterfront and naturally sheltered harbour formed by its estuary position makes it an incredibly popular spot for boating and sailing. In the town you will find a vast array of shops to enjoy, from clothing, home interiors to fabulous local food producers – if you love shopping you’ll love Salcombe! Food lovers won’t be disappointed either with a good choice of eateries and some of the freshest seafood you will ever have.

Salcombe’s position by the estuary makes it easy to beach hop between beaches either side of the water. Just up from the town you will find the fabulous beaches of South Sands and North Sands. Take a short ferry hop across to East Portlemouth on the other side of the estuary and explore a number of wonderful beaches including Mill Bay and Sunny Cove.

Just around the headland are the pretty villages of Hope Cove and Thurlestone. Both villages offer sheltered beaches with an ideal mix of sand and rockpools, perfect for families.

If you travel down river from Salcombe your journey will come to an end in the bustling market town of Kingsbridge. The small is town is the gateway to some of the prettiest villages and stunning beaches in South Devon, making it the perfect place to base yourself during a South Devon holiday.

Surrounded by lush green hills,  Kingsbridge is set in the heart of South Hams, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has a long high street with an eclectic selection of family-run shops including bakeries, fishmonger and butcher. There are plenty of places to enjoy a crab sandwich or bowl of mussels along with some more upmarket restaurants and take away businesses.

Just outside this popular holiday destination are lots of villages to explore, like Frogmore which sits alongside the creeks of the Salcombe estuary or East Prawle which is a short drive to East Portlemouth with ferry access to Salcombe.
