A simply stunning coastal retreat, this boutique bolthole for two is in the sought after village of Shaldon. Coastguard Cottage is tucked away in a peaceful spot, but with beaches, cafe scene and shops close at hand.
Accommodation is beautiful - think contemporary living with a touch of luxury in a period cottage and you’re on the right track. The open plan living area comes complete with sliding doors onto the pretty courtyard with table and chairs and terracotta pots. The kitchen is great with plenty of space for cooking up some culinary delights. Chill out in the living area, furnished with a couple of sofas and armchair and wood burning stove for the cooler evenings. Upstairs the master ensuite is pretty and stylish with en suite shower room and velux windows which let the light flood in.
Coastguard Cottage is in a charming and quiet back street location in Shaldon, a quaint little fishing village opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, it’s easy to hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. Shaldon is a great place for walking too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal strolls right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment!
Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports. It’s possible to arrive at Shaldon by public transport via Teignmouth with trains operating to Exeter, Plymouth and London and the ferry service from Teignmouth to Shaldon Beach.
