Compass Cottage is beautiful, packed with coastal style reflecting its fabulous location in the heart of Shaldon, overlooking the village green. The property is just 300 yards from the beach so don’t forget the buckets and spades!
This coastal bolthole is perfect for a couple or family. The open plan living room is stylish with two leather sofas and dining table and chairs. The cream and grey decor adds a touch of sophistication to this stunning cottage. The style and palette continues upstairs in the two bedrooms - both are beautifully furnished and the master bedroom has a lovely bay window overlooking the green.
Shaldon is a quaint little fishing town, opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. It’s a great place for dog walking too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal walks right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment!
Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will probably come again & family members were impressed by cottage.ddd lovely comfy cottage & pleasant position
Lovely period property in the heart of Shaldon.
We have just returned from a wonderful week in Shaldon, which is a lovely village which we are so pleased to have discovered and will certainly be going back. We stayed with our 2 year old and 11 month old and the village is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with children owing to the excellent beaches, shops, cafes, walks and low volume of traffic owing to the narrow streets in the centre of the village (this might change in school holidays). Compass Cottage was a superb base for our stay, its position on the Village Green is idyllic and a stone's throw from everything you need. We parked in the Ness Car Park (it was very busy everywhere else when we arrived on a sunny Saturday) and then didn't need our car for the rest of our time in Shaldon, everything is easily walkable from the cottage. Particular recommendations from us close to the cottage are Clipper Cafe, the London Inn (also on the Green) and the bakers and butcher on the main street. The tiny Beauty Hut is also lovely for someone wanted a massage / manicure treat but it's so popular that I'd phone to book before arriving in Shaldon. The cottage itself met our needs perfectly, it's well laid out, fully equipped, tastefully decorated and felt like a home from home. We returned home from Shaldon feeling like we'd genuinely had an enjoyable holiday and proper break (not always the case with two small children!) and wouldn't hesitate to return, both to Shaldon and to Compass Cottage.
Lovely lovely cottage perfect location everything wonderful We went on a extremely hot week it would be good to get some fans as very warm upstairs Just perfect
