Description

A delightful 2 bed cottage in the chic coastal village of Shaldon. The property is beautifully decorated in grey and white with traditional touches throughout. From the parquet floor in the living room to the soft crocheted throw on the sofa, this cosy cottage is charming.

The newly fitted galley style kitchen is well kitted out with pretty provincial style splashback tiles, ceramic sink, cooker hob, oven and dishwasher. The separate dining room off the hallway is a lovely spot to sit and relax after dinner with a glass of wine. A stable door from the kitchen leads out onto a private courtyard - packed with coastal charm and festooned with lights with plenty of seating around the table for 6 people. To the side of the cottage a gate leads to a passageway, perfect for your beach gear.

Cook's Cottage is just a couple of minutes walk from the beaches and amenities. Shaldon is a quaint little fishing village opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, it’s easy to hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. The area is popular with walkers too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal strolls right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment! Children will love discovering the ancient smuggler's tunnel, the only way to access the famous Ness beach.

Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports. It’s possible to arrive at Shaldon by public transport via Teignmouth with trains operating to Exeter, Plymouth and London and the ferry service from Teignmouth to Shaldon Beach.

Shaldon is very well connected, with road links, close proximity to Exeter Airport and easy access to the mainline train stations in Teignmouth and Newton Abbot.

Reviews

We loved our stay at Cooks cottage, the cottage is decorated and furnished excellently. We have already booked again for next year.

Mr richard armstrong,

We would recommend the property to other families, good location and facilities. When we contacted the property managers they responded immediately and were very helpful.

Mr Carlton Wilson,

Wonderfully decorated with everything we needed, a very comfortable home from home

Mr Gary Jesson,

The cottage was very cleverly decorated and furnished with vintage items and the facilities were very good. It was nice to have complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk and biscuits, we appreciated that. It was also very well located close to local pubs, bakery, shop and restaurant. Everyone was very friendly in Shaldon.

Mrs Karen Swaine,
