Get any closer to the beach than this place, and you will have sand in your sandwiches for sure. Beachcombers is perched on the perfect vantage point, halfway down the wall that separates the Esplanade from the beach, with a bird's eye view of Woolacombe Sands and the surf break that recently saw this sandy stretch voted as the second best beach in the UK.
Dog- and family-friendly, it is definitely best to tire your kids and your pooch out thoroughly before bringing them here, because otherwise they will only be itching to get back on the beach, such are the views from the small outdoor balcony and the main restaurant itself, which has giant windows overlooking all the action. The café is open 11 months of the year – basically, if the flag is flying, they're frying – serving breakfast and lunch (the traditional type of fare you'd expect at the seaside, but also with veggie options). They also open at night too, serving meals accompanied by wines and beers to those who want to see the sun down over one of the best beach views in the country.
