Larkstone Cafe and Leisure Gardens
Run by a friendly couple – Dave and Steph Addie – the Larkstone Café and Leisure Gardens overlook idyllic Ilfracombe Harbour and offer a fantastic playground and pit stop for people and their pooches all year around. Located by Ilfracombe public swimming pool, the fully licensed restaurant is open from 11am every day except Monday, and dishes up an eclectic selection of food from a mouth-watering menu, including all-day breakfasts, tapas dishes, cream teas, light snacks and Sunday lunches. They're open in the evenings, providing an amazing location to see the sun down with a glass of something nice, and most Friday nights you can catch live music here, typically acoustic and in perfect harmony with the surroundings.
The leisure gardens sprawl across six tranquil acres of grassy space, every inch of which has an amazing vista. Dogs are welcome throughout the grounds and fun features include a purpose-built play area for the kids, with a climbing frame and all sorts of toys for various ages. For big kids, there's a tennis court, lawn bowls, putting, croquet, petanque (boules), soft-play archery and table tennis (on calm days). Games cost £1 each, no matter what your shoe size. On wet days there are plenty of indoor games available too, including bar skittles, 3D noughts and crosses, bagatelle, chess and numerous board games. There are regular special events, including family days, Easter egg hunts and outdoor bootcamps.
