Tehidy Country Park
Start & Finish: Tehidy Country Park Visitor Centre
More than 250 acres of dense woods zigzagged by walking trails, Tehidy Country Park – the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall, since you ask – proves that the county’s natural treasures aren’t all down to its pristine coastline. Sloping away from the north coast and into the shelter of the trees, this is the perfect place for a walk when it’s blowing a hoolie on the beaches, and an enchanting place for a springtime stroll when it’s carpeted in bluebells.
The park has over 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of woods and lakes to explore, and there are four circular walks to choose from, ranging from ½ hour to 1.5 hours in length, as well as cycle and horse trails accessible to dog walkers. Dogs are welcome in most of the estate, with the exception of the designated wildlife area around the lakes, where you can do an easy circular walk – although the nicest routes are the dog-friendly paths that take you through the extensive woodlands. The café at the main South Drive entrance also welcomes dogs on the terrace, and serves delicious homemade cakes and snacks.
