The Royal Oak
Sitting pretty in the gorgeous South Hams village of Malborough near Kingsbridge, the Royal Oak is just a short drive from the hot dog-walking destinations of Hope Cove and Salcombe, where people and their pooches can explore some of the best beaches and cutest coves on the gentle South Devon coastline.
This is a buzzing little village pub, offering fantastic food and a range of local real ales and ciders, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Food is hearty, well-presented and about as refined as high quality pub grub can be, with a short but enticing menu that includes lovely slow-roast lamb, belly pork, fish and chips and the like.
There's a leafy beer garden for warm summer lunchtimes and evenings, and inside you will find a welcoming fire waiting to warm your toes (and paws) after a brisk winter walk. There is an eclectic range of local artwork on display, and monthly acoustic jam sessions take place – the Royal Oak has a 30-year tradition as a live music venue and over that time has become famous as a bit of a creative hub for South Devon. Look out for special events too.
