The Watering Hole
Bang on Perranporth’s two-mile beach (one of Cornwall’s finest – and most popular – doggie hangouts), The Watering Hole welcomes dogs into what ranks as one of Cornwall’s coolest beach bars, with a funky attitude, decent – if unpretentious – food and drink, and an all-round ultra-chilled, friendly vibe.
Outside, the benches are lined up on the sand, and from there punters can get a front-row view of the surf, the surfers and some cracking sunsets. The interior of the Watering Hole is pretty rustic – heaters stave off the cold, sand blows in each time the door opens and it’s not the sort of place unaccustomed to sandy paws (and feet).
But it serves food all day – hearty, heart-warming breakfasts, sandwiches and burgers, and simple hot lunches like sausage and mash, fish and chips and various delicious homemade pies. There’s also a decent line-up of regular live music – anything from up-and-coming singer-songwriters and tribute bands to Mariachi minstrels. Little surprise, then, that this place is a popular haven for surfers, dog walkers and families alike.
