Start & Finish: Trelissick Garden NT car park
The formal National Trust gardens at Trelissick are closed to dogs, but it’s the 300-acre estate surrounding the property that attracts dog owners from far and wide. Here you can take anything from a half-hour stroll to a four-mile hike through woodland and parkland that tumbles to a sheltered crescent of beach on the River Fal. If you want a real adventure you can arrive by ferry from Falmouth or Truro (peak season), or hop across the river on the King Harry Ferry and explore the Roseland Peninsula (year-round). Even on the most blustery days the wellie brigades strike out along the woodland trails, before resting their muddy boots at Trelissick’s Crofters Café, where there are dog biscuits and water bowls available for Rover and his friends.
