Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens
Tucked away in a sheltered nook of West Cornwall, Tremenheere is one of Cornwall’s newest and best garden attractions. With trees to climb, interactive art exhibits and wide-open spaces, this 20-acre plot – once owned by the monks of St Michael’s Mount – has been transformed into a clever and seamless fusion of nature and art.
Boardwalks twist and turn through sun-dappled canopies, a stream trickles along the valley floor, and carpets of lawn climb up to mature woodland, from where you can witness dramatic views of Mounts Bay and St Michael’s Mount. While dogs (on leads) love scenting trails through the bluebell woodland and dipping their paws in the burbling stream, the highlights for adults (and children for that matter) include gazing at the sky from an underground elliptical domed chamber and seeing a 360˚ view of the gardens through the camera obscura. Back at the entrance, the Lime Tree Café is a nice place to take the weight off, serving fresh Cornish fare, cream teas and delicious apple cake.
