Nonsuch House is even better in 2016!
On our third visit in 3 years we were delighted to find that Nonsuch House was even better! The small kitchen and rather dark dining room have been transformed into one large, modern, light, airy kitchen-diner with a sofa in front of a huge folding picture window which opens straight onto a refurbished terrace. Now you can watch the ferries and boats from the ground floor while you have breakfast (or lunch or dinner) as well as from the bay window in the sitting-room above. As long as we can manage the steep lane and steps we hope to return in future years- it must be the best view in Dartmouth.Maureen and David from Rugby - 7th October 2016
Great house with fantastic views
We really liked the house and thought the views were truly wonderful. Facilities and layout had everything we could reasonably want. We appreciate it would be difficult, but a loo on garden level would make a great addition to this house. It is a long way from the lower garden to the top of the house! Staff of bluerivercottages in Dartmouth were very helpful in promptly finding a spare key, when I reported that it was missing from the house.Sue from Bristol. - 8th July 2016
What a view!
Lovely house with a beautifully redeveloped kitchen area. Views across the Dart from almost every window, including the steam train arriving in Kingswear. There was nothing found wanting in the house. We used the car park permit rather than the difficult to access garage but we didn't feel this impacted on our enjoyment. Our 3 year old managed the rather steep stairs in the house very well but the very young or more elderly may struggle. We really enjoyed our time in Dartmouth and would certainly recommend this property.Andy and Helen, Bristol - 22nd April 2016
Wonderful venue, peaceful, fantastic views; you really feel part of river and town life at Nonsuch (our second visit)
We thoroughly enjoyed our second successive visit to Nonsuch (although the steps don't get any easier!!)and would have loved to have stayed longer. Having had a bad experience driving up to, and parking in, Above Town last year we walked up with our luggage, so popped in to your office to enquire about slightly less elevated cottages for our next visit, although exchanging the seagull's eye-view from the Nonsuch bay window would be giving up a lot. The cottage was perfect, as on our previous visit, in terms of cleanliness, facilities and equipment, and its central location is ideal for getting around and eating out. We can't wait to get back to Dartmouth next year!Maureen and David from Rugby - 18th October 2015
Thank you so much for providing such a magnificent property to rent for our stay in Dartmouth. Terry and I and the boys have absolutely enjoyed ourselves. The property was just so perfect in every way. Very clean and comfortable with stunning views of the harbour. The welcoming pack was so wonderful. Thank you so much again.Sue & Terry Jones - Australia - 30th September 2015
Lovely location, great house, suitably appointed and well equipped. Great views. Everything we had hoped for when booking. Garden was a bonus (grass needed cutting). So much to do without using a car. Various walks. Steam train to Paignton and river/boat trips. Nice change.Rob from Southampton - 25th September 2015
A very comfortable holiday home
We found Nonsuch House to be very comfortable indeed and the views spectacular. The garage is, as was mentioned in the house description, very small - we took our Citroen C3 and it's been wearing the garage as an overcoat all week, we only just managed to wiggle it in! The parking pass for use in the main town car park was very useful for others in our party. Minuses? We could have done with thicker duvets on the twin beds and perhaps mattress toppers as those beds are quite hard, but we got used to it and there were some blankets, the nights have been cold during the 1st week of September. Very well equipped kitchen and enough televisions and wifi access to satisfy everyone's addictions during the evenings in. We'd certainly come again.Sue and family from Camberley - 11th September 2015
Grab rail needed in main bathroom in shower. dryer door difficult to open. great place to stay. would return, the views are fantastic.Mau from Derbyshire - 26th June 2015
The house was stylish, spacious, well -equipped, and with a view to die for!Laura from Surrey - 19th June 2015
Very Comfortable and fabulous views
We thought the house was well situated and had the most amazing views from every floor. Would have been nice to have a king size bed as the bedroom was large enough for it.Mr and Mrs N Williams - 24th April 2015
Wonderful accommodation- light, airy, comfortable, with fabulous views
About the best holiday accommodation we've ever had- everything you might need was provided, we made use of the books and DVDs on dark evenings and the 'welcome goodies' were much appreciated. The view of river and sea was fantastic- on our 2 rained-off days we spent hours just watching the ferries, and the sight of the full moon rising over Kingswear and silvering the whole river on a high spring tide was unforgettable. The town was easily accessible and our fitness certainly improved from negotiating all the steep lanes and steps. The only down-side was the horrendous drive up Crowther's Hill into Above Town (just too much for my under-powered 1.2 litre engine)and the impossible garage turning space (too short for all but the tiniest car)so we left our vehicle at Mayor's Avenue all week- but probably not easy to find a space in mid-summer. Perhaps more might be said on the website about the access difficulties. We've already recommended Nonsuch to my sister and fully intend to return ourselves next year, but with sick relatives in their late 80s/early 90s to consider we can only make last-minute bookings, so sadly will have to forego the 5% discount.Maureen and David from Warwickshire - 17th October 2014
Nonsuch House was lovely, the kitchen has everything you would ever need. The views from the house are breathtaking. We stayed for a fortnight and only saw rain twice, the weather was beautiful. Having teenagers it was brilliant that they had their own bathroom. A wonderful time was had by all.Forsters from Hull - 8th August 2014
Lovely house with an amazing view
My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. The view is simply stunning, indeed we spent most of our holiday sat on the chairs in the bay window watching the boats and ferries go back and fore on the Dart. The house was nicely furnished and well equipped and clean. There was a nice garden with the same lovely views. Everything you need for a wonderfully relaxing break. The garage was a nice bonus but wouldn't fit a car bigger than a focus/astra size. Luckily our kia cee'd fitted perfectly (after some careful reversing!). Plenty to see and do in Dartmouth and Kingswear, particularly enjoyed a couple of cruises on the dart, one around the dart mouth and dittisham area, the other to Totnes (complete with close encounters with 2 seals!). Beautiful scenic walk down to dartmouth castle from the house along Above Town and round Warfleet Creek. Looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you Blue River!!Anthony from Trimsaran, South Wales - 7th May 2014
A delightful holiday lovely house with amazing veiws
access to the house, impossible for our Berlingo car., but thats Dartmouth for you! . The house was very well equiped and so lovely and clean. The only thing I missed was not having a hair dryer on the premises. Lots of lovely books and games and televisions. Loved the kitchen area. The veiws over Dartmouth and Kingswear at night were enchanting, could have sat for ever just looking at the dawn coming up. There are three levels in the house with steep stairs so not for the faint hearted. We are late 60 and 70 yrs old and we managed fine. It wasnt a problem for us. Lovely holiday.Beverley from Flixton Manchester - 13th September 2013
Nice centrally located house, great views
Dartmouth is a great town for a holiday base with excellent restaurants. We hardly used the car while here - great chance to walk and take the ferry to other towns around the coast. Nonsuch house is comfortable, clean and has everything you need. The terrace is great for sitting with a drink, viewing the river - weather permitting! May we suggest a couple of very minor improvements - a visitor book (I like to see other visitors' recommendations and ideas), a mirror in the twin bedroom and a mint bush in the garden ( for Pimms purposes!) Despite the British weather we had a good week here - thank you. We have already recommended Blue River Cottages to friends.Angie and family from Worcestershire - 2nd August 2013
What a wonderful house.
We had an idyllic week in Nonsuch House, perfectly positioned to enjoy Dartmouth. The views from all floors are beautiful, the top and first floor layout is perfect. The weather cannot spoil a stay in this place as whilst the rain beats down enjoy the spectacular scenery in front of you. We would definitely book this house again. Make sure you master your reversing skills in order to manoeuvre your car into the garage though!Anne, from Long Ditton, Surrey - 17th August 2012
Very enjoyable and relaxing, wonderful views from house.Sue from Gloucestershire - 3rd August 2012
