There are lots of great reasons for coming to Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. For a start we have some of the UK’s loveliest beaches. Families with children who need golden sands, ice creams, cafés and great facilities adore the open spaces at Bude, Westward Ho!, Newquay, Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde, whilst dog lovers who stay in our dog-friendly cottages might prefer quiet strands where they can let their four-legged companions run free. Mind you, if you choose a coastal cottage to walk the coast path you’ll find more hidden coves and hideaways than anywhere else – as well as some of the UK’s very best walking.
Away from the coast there are quiet lanes and bridleways to stroll down, thousands of acres of open moorland to explore and a few billion stars to gaze at in the moor’s dark and unpolluted skies. When you are done, there are cosy pubs to warm your toes in and relax for the evening before heading back to your luxury cottage by the sea. Does it sound idyllic? It can be, especially if you cook up an evening feast with locally-sourced ingredients or treat yourself to a meal at one of the region’s finest restaurants. The big names are well represented here – Oliver, Stein, Caines and Tonks – but there are also a lot of other brilliant local food heroes serving up the best of our home-grown produce in their cafés, bars and restaurants.
Adventure seekers, of course, will find any number of other brilliant reasons to come to Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. The surf can be spectacular whilst the cycling is brilliant, whether off-road, on country lanes or on our fabulous traffic free routes like the Tarka Trail, Camel Trail and Bissoe Tramway. Then there’s the sailing, swimming, snorkelling, coasteering, mountain boarding, horse riding, kite flying and…flaking out at the end of another brilliant day in the West Country.
Just come. You’ll love it!
