This beautifully decorated house sits in an elevated position above the Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe on the North Devon coast. It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re keen to explore the town and local area including the stunning North Devon coastline with its sandy beaches and clean surf, as well as the breathtaking moorland of Exmoor National Park. This property is only a few hundred metres from the bustling harbour where Damien Hirst’s twenty-metre sculpture, Verity, looks proudly out towards the dramatic cliffs, Lundy Island and Wales.

This well-presented home is tastefully decorated throughout to make the most of the space and create a light and airy feel, while the reverse-level accommodation allows you to make the most of the views. Two super king-size rooms, both with en-suite, are on the ground floor as well as the handy utility room for muddy boots and sandy wetsuits. Upstairs, you’ll find the third king-size bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge/diner with access to the roof terrace. The roof terrace is the perfect place to while away the hours; here you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst taking in the far-reaching views.

The lovely town of Ilfracombe is full of things to see and do, including boat trips and cruises from the harbour, the Victorian Tunnels Beaches, a lively High Street and its own cinema and theatre. Further afield, North Devon’s finest surfing beaches, Woolacombe, Putsborough and Saunton, are all within 11 miles. The historic cliff railway at Lynton and Lynmouth (19 miles) is worth a visit, as are superb family attractions such as Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (7 miles) and Watermouth Castle (3 miles).

Great location, walkable, albeit a v steep walk, to and from the harbour. The sea views were lovely. Upstairs is big and airy and v comfortable. Kitchen was clean. However, there is a serious damp and mold issue in both of the downstairs bedrooms, particularly the back bedroom. This was a problem. The house was fairly well equipped, though a coupleRead more more saucepans would have been useful. Hide

Hayward House is lovely, but need to be physically fit to navigate the hills and ....access the shops and beach. Access to the garage and parking was difficult.

Lovely place to stay and fantastic location. Steep climb back from the town. The sea view was amazing and the provision of binoculars was a lovely touch. Parking is tight.

Large well appointed house. Very narrow access for cars. Very steep walk from seafront/harbour level if mobility an issue. Enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location, even if its a bit tight getting the car into the garage. An easy stroll into town and the harbour but be prepared for a steep walk back. Very comfortable, large bedrooms and plenty of space for everyone in the lounge and on the terrace. Very nice, relaxing base to come back to after days out visiting local attractions.

This was our second visit to Hayward House, it worked so well for our family of 6 adults and a toddler. The house is in a great location for all the amenities of Ilfracombe. It was lovely to sit outside on the sun terrace and see the sea views in the distance. It was good to have the garage as well, we managed to get both out cars in there with no Read moreproblem. Definitely recommend. Hide
