Relax and unwind in this immaculate property situated in the attractive village of Instow, with its golden sandy beach, deli, shop, pubs and restaurants all walking distance.

Admire the river views from your balcony, in the master bedroom of this charming property close to the coast. Breathe in the fresh air with a morning cup of tea, then start your day with a walk along the South West Coast Path, which you can join just across the road. For those on a restful retreat to Devon, the house is in a lovely peaceful location that gives you access to plenty of popular sights and natural beauty spots.

If you’re back from the beach, wash away stubborn sand under the handy outside tap, and let the washing machine take care of clothes and towels. Inside, the gas fire will warm the lounge on cooler evenings, as you settle down to watch a favourite programme together on the Smart TV. Soak under a hot shower, then drift off to sleep. You’ll wake feeling comfortable and cosy, so don’t rush to get up. Instead, enjoy a leisurely morning, with a brunch in the suntrap courtyard while you plan your next adventure.

The friendly local ferry will take you across the river to the quaint village of Appledore (5.5 miles) for a wander round its bright streets and to peer into the Maritime Museum. Whether on a romantic couples’ getaway or holidaying with family, a day at the beach is too fun to miss out on, especially when the golden sands of Westward Ho! are only 5.5 miles away. Bask in the sun and pick up a bag of chips and a traditional ice cream cone for a seaside snack. You can always walk it off afterwards in Northam Burrows Country Park (5.5 miles), which adjoins the beach.

Very compact and comfortable property that has been finished to a high spec. We had a lovely week here and will, I am sure, return in the future. A "plus" for us was the fact that dogs were not allowed, so no hair on the furniture or carpets and no lingering doggy smell. On that note, if I had one criticism it would not be with the property itself Read morebut with Instow beach. It used to be a nice, child-friendly beach, but it is now overrun with dog walkers and their charges fouling the golden sands. Hide
