A delightful stone cottage with wonderful scenic views over Exmoor National Park is the perfect holiday spot for a family or group of friends. Set in a lovely garden on a working farm, it sleeps six guests, plus up to three dogs. The cottage is beautifully furnished and full of character, with vaulted ceilings, original beams and whitewashed walls. The large garden, shared with two neighbouring holiday cottages, has a games room, children’s play/picnic area and a secluded patio overlooking the glorious countryside. Pets can run free in their own enclosed meadow. Pretty Parracombe with a community shop and the seaside at Combe Martin are both within 7 miles, with exhilarating walks across wild Exmoor on your doorstep.

The airy, open-plan living/dining/kitchen ground floor has a lovely country feel, with French doors onto the garden and superb views, comfortable seating and a wood burner for cosy evenings. There are three charming bedrooms: a ground-floor twin with striking four-poster beds; and a double and twin on the lower ground floor. Outside, guests have their own picnic table in the garden. The shared patio has seating and a BBQ, and an enclosed, grassy courtyard houses garden furniture.

Explore the glorious Exmoor uplands or take a footpath from the cottage leading to the beautiful Heddon Valley, where you may spot rare butterflies and buzzards. Combe Martin (6 miles) has a year-round dog-friendly beach, while water sports enthusiasts can hire kayaks and paddleboards. Join the South West Coast Path, which runs through the village, to see North Devon’s spectacular clifftop scenery. Picturesque Lynmouth Harbour and the twin village of Lynton, with its famous funicular train, are just 7 miles away. Enjoy a scenic journey on the well-preserved Lynton and Barnstaple steam train from Woody Bay station (4 miles).

The property was ideal for us and our two Norfolk Terriers. It is set in a peaceful valley which is off the beaten track but easy to get to with Parracombe and its fabulous pub and community shop and cafe a short drive away (or a good brisk walk away if you prefer that). The enclosed Orchard was brilliant for our dogs to roam around off lead safelyRead more and without being able to run off. The property is dog friendly and in the same way as we do at home, the dogs can safely be kept out of bedrooms/carpeted areas as child/dog gates are already installed, which we found very useful. The property has all the equipment needed for an enjoyable home from home break and we appreciated the complete peace. The owners were friendly and helpful and on hand if required, but basically left you to enjoy their hospitality and your holiday. There are so many fabulous places to explore in this part of Devon and we found lots of lovely places to eat, the owners have left lots of information on this too. All in all we enjoyed a relaxing time without stress and two nicely worn out woofies who enjoyed themselves too. Hide

We have just come back from a wonderful week at Mole Cottage. The location is idyllic, with many good walks from the cottage. It is possible to walk to at least two excellent local pubs and we also walked to the nearest beach. That beach is pebbly but beautiful. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. I have never stayed in a holiday home this well equip before. I cook a lot, I always found what I needed to use in the cupboard. Hosts were on hand if needed, but left us to our own devices. Property and the farm were lovely. Our boys (15 and 12) went off to roam almost immediately and were fine to explore wherever they wanted alone. Lovely local wRead morealks. Lots of land on the farm to explore. Loads of useful information in the file from the hosts covering literally everything from local food and shops, dogs friendly beaches. Well worth going to the local farm shop/butchers and the community cafe in the village. We also went to the storm in a tea cup cafe which was great. I cannot even think of constructive criticism, we had everything we needed, lovely location which felt like home. So glad we picked it. Hide
