Full of character and beautifully presented, this appealing cottage is a home-from-home at any time of the year, welcoming couples and small families, plus two furry friends. In the centre of vibrant Croyde, it’s perfect for days on the beach, surfing the waves or walking the coast path.
Enter this Grade II-listed bijou cottage via the front courtyard and three steps to the front door. The living space is wonderfully cosy, with exposed stonework and original beams, while whitewashed walls and co-ordinated furniture in muted colours add gentle modernity throughout. The focal point is a Charnwood stove, a lovely feature for cooler evenings, and there’s also comfortable seating, a TV and a farmhouse-style dining table. The bright kitchen is equipped with all you’ll need for holiday cooking, and has an unusual feature in the floor - a glass viewing panel to the cottage’s old well. On the first floor there are two elegant bedrooms: a king-size (twin on request) and a double, with limited access to one side of the bed. The latter also has a 2’6” raised bed suitable for children over the age of six. They share an airy family bathroom. The cottage’s sunny front courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco meal, and there’s also a cobbled courtyard which has a storage shed for bikes and beach gear.
The sweet village of Croyde is popular with a cool surfing crowd as well as families looking for a traditional seaside holiday. You’ll find friendly pubs, shops and places to eat and, of course, a fabulous beach, Croyde Bay, which neighbours both the huge Saunton Sands and 3-mile long Putsborough Beach. Scenic walks take you across the rugged headland of Baggy Point, with its far-reaching views to Lundy Island, or along the dunes to Saunton Sands.
