In a picturesque coastal setting, this cottage is one of two romantic cottages on the site in Combe Martin. It comprises an ancient thatch cottage, a 16th-century Grade II-listed cottage and a quaint, romantic cottage and set on different levels with steep stairs. All are set in 4.5 acres of beautiful meadow and woodland, the grounds overlooking Combe Martin Bay. Enjoy the wood burner inside or the enclosed garden with tiered decking outside.
The front door opens into the kitchen/dining space where you will find a stone fireplace with a wood burner and a kitchen area with all you’ll need to make romantic meals for two. From this room, the staircase leads upstairs to a bedroom which has a super-king-size bed (that can be made into a twin upon request) and a seating area. In the bedroom, four steps lead down to a small rear hallway, off which the bathroom is located. A decked patio area on two levels with inset pillar lighting is just outside the rear hallway and can double as a boot room. The cottage's garden is enclosed with a small, sloped lawn area and offers you another place in which to unwind. Given the cottage's unique coastal location, guests are advised to keep pets on a lead when enjoying the grounds as part of the boundary is made up of sea cliffs.
Newberry Beach, a smaller beach in the bay, is just over 100 metres away from the bottom of the drive. This popular coastal village is steeped in history and offers a good choice of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops, which are 300 metres away. For keen walkers, the South West Coast Path runs past the property with exhilarating walks and breathtaking views along the coast. Exmoor National Park is on your doorstep with many beauty spots, all just a scenic drive away, including Lynton and Lynmouth (13 miles) linked by the famous cliff railway. In the opposite direction, Ilfracombe (5 miles) offers a pretty harbour, an aquarium and plenty of places to eat and drink. Or stay closer to home and visit the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (2.5 miles).
