Our Top Five Packing Essentials

Written by Katie Bessant on

The task of packing for a holiday can sometimes be overwhelming, but with our top five packing essentials, you are sure to have everything you need for a fabulous Devon summer holiday.

  1. Sense of Adventure

Coming in at number one, you can’t leave this essential at home, so make sure it is the first thing you pop in your case.

There are ample of adventures to be had in Devon! So whether you fancy venturing along the South West Coast Path, ambling along the Tarka Trail or heading to an action-packed family attraction like The Milky Way Adventure Park, you are sure to need all of your energy and sense of adventure to enjoy your holiday to its fullest potential.

Even if you prefer to spend your holiday at a slower pace, there are plenty of secret coves and hidden restaurants to be discovered.

  1. Big Appetite

There is so much fantastic, local produce to be enjoyed in Devon, so make sure you don’t leave your appetite behind! Make room for the best cream teas, locally produced ice creams and fudge!

There’s now even an app (The North Devon Food Trail) which showcases some of the finest food and drink in the region, so check it out to be sure you don’t miss out on any of the wonderful delights.

  1. Camera

Capture those all-important holiday memories during your next break in Devon. There are so many breath-taking views, charming villages and interesting wildlife, that a fully-charged camera or smart phone is an essential for a day full of exploring.

If you do snap any shots, please do send it over to us so we can share on our social media channels!

  1. Picnic Blanket

Devon is one of the best places to enjoy a picnic and there are oodles of places to chose from! Head to Exmoor and admire breath-taking views of the countryside or wander over to the coastline and enjoy the rugged cliffs and sandy shores, all whilst tucking into a relaxed lunch or light evening meal.

  1. Pack for all Weather

It can get pretty warm in the summer months and if you are venturing to the great outdoors, you may not notice the sun’s rays if there is a fresh coastal breeze.

So to avoid turning into a lobster, be sure to pack sun cream, a hat and plenty of fluids before heading out for the day to ensure you are protected from the beautiful Devon sunshine.

However, as we all know, it can sometimes be drizzly, so make sure you pack a raincoat just in case, so it doesn’t dampen your holiday spirit.

So that’s it! Our top five packing essentials for your Devon break… if you have any you think we’ve missed, let us know so we can add it!

Of course, if you need somewhere to stay during your getaway, take a look at our full range of self-catering holiday cottages in Devon, still available during the summer holidays and we look forward to seeing you soon!
