Property code: 1450B

Amidst 200 acres of organic farmland, this Grade II listed barn dates back to the 1450’s but has been converted into a snug and contemporary holiday home. You can escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life here, to enjoy long leisurely walks on the moors or beaches - or watch life on the farm. With ample room for a large family group, you can find your own space to watch TV and chill out in the lounge, or sip sundowners in the hot tub.

Prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy them around the dining table, or take them outside to the enclosed garden, where you also have the choice of firing up the BBQ to add to the fun of long summer evenings. Children have their own play area in the garden as well as the opportunity to visit the farm; perhaps even to see baby lambs during the spring. The interior’s warm woody tones, comfortable furnishings and original features create a cosy countryside home-from-home that you won’t want to leave.

When you do, you can travel to the nearby village of Iddesleigh (2 miles), where the pub offers good food. Just 12 miles from Dartmoor, you have stunning scenery to explore - ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, but also for those who enjoy picnics, watching wildlife (including the famed Dartmoor ponies) and exploring picturesque and historic villages. Or head to the coast with the seaside town of Bude only 26 miles away, with beaches, canals, shops and restaurants, as well as an indoor swimming pool with flumes.

We had a fantastic stay. Shirley and Mike were lovely hosts and made us feel so welcome. Our kids (age 4 and 8) loved being on a working farm and were lucky to be offered to help feed the lambs. We had a lovely stay at the barn, despite some pretty rubbish weather. It was large, comfortable and well equipped, and very peaceful. It is set in the middle of a working farm, and our kids made friends with the farm dogs and cat and we're very sad to say goodbye.
