If walking is your thing, make sure you take the footpath to the coast accessed directly from the house. You’ll end up at Lannacombe beach (2 miles), a superb stretch of sand nestled within a bay. Carry on along the South West Coast Path to Start Point Lighthouse (2 miles), before reaching Beesands (4 miles) with its mile-long shingle beach.
