Expect sea views and a town full of wonderful attractions, amenities and eateries when you stay at Ocean’s Edge, a wonderful former sea captain’s house in the harbour town of Ilfracombe. The beautiful period property is situated in an elevated position, allowing wonderful vistas of the surrounding North Devon coastline and uninterrupted views of the Bristol Channel. Spend evenings on the private sea-view balcony with dramatic panoramas, enjoy time lounging inside on the comfortable sofas, or venture out into town to see what treasures there are to be found.

You know you’re in for a classy stay as soon as you arrive, with porticoed front doors inviting you in, alluding to the property’s grand history as a sea captain’s residence. A floor-to-ceiling bay window is found in the open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge area, offering views to the sea below and flooding the room with natural light. A warming wood burner can be found in the lounge area, as well as pretty, neutral decor: an elegant space to unwind with a DVD and a pot of tea. Outside, you’ll find an attractive terraced patio with uninterrupted sea views, complete with table and chairs for al fresco dining or drinks while the sun sets.

You’ll be 1 mile from Ilfracombe Harbour, home to many fine pubs, restaurants and Damien Hirst’s impressive Verity, a towering bronze sculpture. The town also boasts a number of beaches, including the historic Tunnels Beaches built in Victorian times. If you wanted to venture further, there’s much to discover: Combe Martin (6 miles), home to an animatronic dinosaur and wildlife park; Barnstaple (12 miles) where you can enjoy a spot of shopping, and the beautiful surf beaches of Woolacombe (8 miles), Croyde (11 miles) and Saunton (12 miles).

Super apartment in a great location by the coast path and with a wonderful outlook ! The rooms have really high ceilings and even though we stayed there in November it was always lovely and warm. We appreciated the log burner and lit a fire every evening just because we enjoyed the ambiance!

This property is in a perfect position with views to die for. It has very large rooms and has everything you could need. Please be aware, if you have a large car, the parking space is quite tight. We would definitely stay there again.

The view from the property is amazing . The main rooms are of lovely proportions and the high ceilings give a great feeling of space . Some maintenance needs addressing ,but undeniably an impressive property, with designated parking which is a real bonus in Ilfracombe.

The most beautiful apartment with breathtaking views over the ocean and harbour. I loved everything about this apartment, the beautiful high ceilings, the chandeliers, the history, it was a mix of old and modern and my absolute dream of an apartment. The building is very impressive with high ceilings, spacious open plan kitchen-diner and sitting rooms with breath-taking sea views, over the harbour and nearby hills and cliffs. We had a very comfortable stay. We appreciated the flat being all on ground floor, with no steps, a large porch and entrance hall making it very easy to come and go with lRead moreuggage and an elderly parent. The apartment was wonderful! It was even more spacious than the photos suggested. The view was obviously the star attraction of this property but it was also well equipped throughout and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had slight reservations about the road noise but it wasnt an issue as the road is very quiet at night. Excellent apartment with very large main rooms and amazing views. It was very well equipped and comfortable. Everything we needed was available in the town, which is a short walk away. Access to many towns, villages and attractions is very easy. Although the apartment is located on a main road the traffic noise was not a problem. On site allocated Read moreparking was a big bonus, although anyone with a large vehicle may find the parking a bit tight, although we did not find it a problem. Hide

The flat is large and spacious with fantastic views of the sea and harbour. It is in a great location for visiting the immediate area on foot as well as being a short drive from many more places of interest; such as Woolacombe, Westward Ho!, Lynton and Lynmouth. The rooms are large and well furnished and the kitchen is well equipped. The parking spRead moreace is a plus although it is quite tight when all four cars are parked. Gorgeous view. Huge apartment. A home from home. Need to tell people in description that it is a tight car parking space, was fine for us and one of reasons we booked, but a bigger car may struggle. Would book again.

To all new guests at this property please ignore all the pathetic negative comments in the visitors book.The place is perfect,the facilities,equipment,the floor space etc,and then you have got the VIEW wow. We think the worst comment was the person who scratched his car ,if you cannot reverse into the car park space hand your licence in.

Very nice apartment with a fabulous view of the harbour entrance to watch the boats coming and going... Well equipped and the heating was very good on our cool April break. Private entrance and an allocated parking space, you do need to reverse in off the road to be able to make a safe exit. Nice walk through the hillside gardens but very steep bacRead morek for anyone not able bodied, plenty of parking down at sea level though so no need to walk. This apartment has a real wow factor. It is a lovely mix of original Victorian features coupled with modern living. The views out to sea and across the harbour, from the almost floor to ceiling windows are fantastic and uninterrupted. Very well positioned for access to the many stunning walks in the area plus the town and all it's facilities. The pRead morearking space is a bit tight but you do get used it. As soon as you enter the property you notice how grand the apartment is. The location of the property could not have been any better, it has views to die for. A gorgeous North Devon escape! This apartment is a beautiful sanctuary with amazing bay windows looking out to Ilfracombe and the coastline. The open plan lounge and kitchen was even larger than the photos had us believe. It was a lovely space to relax in and enjoy the ever-changing views. Superb location with magnificent views. Some much needed maintenance to the outside would make the property look more appealing. Some internal maintenance is also required. Subject to the above the property is excellent.
