Property code: OLDMA

This pretty detached cottage is set in the grounds of an old manor house in the quiet village of Landkey, 3 miles from the bustling heart of Barnstaple and 10 miles from the beach at Braunton. This charming bungalow has a well-kept garden and gorgeous gazebo, and is surrounded by the beautiful North Devon countryside. The cottage is perfect for a small group of friends or family, and golf lovers will be in paradise with seven stunning courses within a 15 mile-radius, one of which is less than a mile away and three others are set right by the ocean.

The style of the property is of sleek Scandinavian elegance, with colours, fabrics and furnishings melding harmoniously. The lounge/kitchen/diner is a calm, bright space in the daytime, with patio doors giving access to the garden and all the mod cons you’ll need to feel at homely and cosy at night, when you’ll reminisce on your day and plan tomorrow’s adventures. The double bedroom is soft and tranquil, with flashes of flair such as the continental bedside cabinets. A lot of love and thought has gone into the unique style of this cottage. Outside there’s an enclosed garden, with a patio for BBQs and a sweet little summerhouse styled like a beach hut.

Beaches and beauty abound around the cottage. The golden sands at Croyde, Westward Ho! (11 miles) and Woolacombe (13 miles) are prized by surfers, and you can join them at the surf schools that proliferate here. Visit the mysterious coastal village of Combe Martin (13 miles), which has the longest High Street in England, and learn about Hunting the Earl of Rone, which happens there every Summer. Visit the stunning cliff-top chapel at Ilfracombe (15 miles), or enjoy its independent shops and pubs. These and so much more await you in North Devon.

A wonderful little cottage situated in a village within a few miles of Barnstaple. A very friendly welcome awaited us together with a beautifully laid out table with cream tea. Much appreciated after a wet and slow journey. Despite the accommodation being to the rear of the hosts cottage it is very private with a lovely garden and plenty of parkingRead more space. Very comfortable and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay. Hide

A secluded cottage in an extremely quiet area. Ideal for a quiet break. A cream tea on arrival after a drive down was appreciated. A local pub, the Castle Inn is a half mile walk with good wine/beer and a lovely Sunday roast (suggest you book). A nice walk from the bottom of the driveway across the road and through the woods for a circular 1.5 mileRead more walk. Close to Barnstaple shops, use the Cattle Market car park as it is convenient to the shops. Suggest a visit to Marwood Hill Gardens. Hide

A beautiful idyllic hideaway, we loved the cottage and the peaceful location. There was easy access down a back-road to Barnstaple by car but also a lovely circular walk with great views passing by the end of the driveway.

Old Manor Cottage is a most comfortable, quiet and cosy place.
