Guests can expect a warm welcome at Burscombe Farm, a delightful holiday home which occupies one wing of the owner's traditional farmhouse. It’s the kind of place that will remind guests of childhood fun and carefree pleasures, as much of the farm’s 400 acres of land are available for guests to explore; the owners are very welcoming of guests who wish to get to know the animals and find out more about farming life. All of this space may feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it is by no means remote, with the seaside town of Sidmouth lying just 3 miles away.
Inside there’s a cosy, homely atmosphere, with low and uneven ceilings lending the house the authentic charm of a period country home. Cosy and inviting, curl up in the large open-plan lounge/diner with a DVD. On sunny days, head outside where there is plenty of space to relax and play in the enclosed private garden, with the BBQ sizzling in the background. There are also shared gardens for guests to enjoy, where you’ll find children’s play equipment including a trampoline and swings.
When it comes to quiet holiday retreats, Burscombe Farm is in an idyllic location surrounded by rolling fields and pretty countryside, perfect for enjoying leisurely walks with a picnic. Just 3 miles south of the farm, the resort of Sidmouth boasts several beaches including the popular Jacob’s Ladder Beach which is backed by red stone cliffs and which offers a wide expanse of sand at low tide. Right in the centre of town, the stretch of beach known as Port Royal is the place to go for those who want to have a go at water sports, including kayaking, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
