A cosy hideout close to the North Devon coast (3 miles), this is a lovely base for a couple or family to experience the slow pace of village life. Just over 100 yards down the road is the local inn, family-friendly and serving meals made from fresh local produce. You can eat out, and then make the leisurely walk back to your home-from-home, for a relaxing evening in front of the wood burner.
Designed as a restful retreat, the cottage is comfortably furnished throughout, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lounge is stylish and characterful, with exposed beams, a vibrant colour scheme, and a wood burner set into a charming brick fireplace. After meals in the bright kitchen or taken al fresco on the enclosed suntrap patio, stretch out on the sofa with a good book or a film. The bedrooms and bathroom, which you’ll find via two steps down, are decorated in cool and calming colours, with nautical details so you never feel too far from the sea.
Along the coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is so much to explore. Simply follow the South West Coast Path, stopping off to visit the pretty fishing villages along the way for an ice cream, and discover your new favourite beach. Younger guests will love the excitement at The Milky Way Adventure Park (5 miles) or take it easy with a stroll through the flowers at RHS Garden Rosemoor (13 miles) and treat yourself to a traditional cream tea.
