Brimming with original features, this charmingly-converted listed barn stands in a peaceful courtyard setting amid fields with donkeys, cows and sheep, just outside pretty Clovelly harbour village on the North Devon coast. Sized for smaller families, it’s ideal for a relaxing break, with classic beach days and day trip destinations nearby.

In Victorian days this courtyard was a ‘model farm’, and its architectural features are typical of this era; from the impressive stone gateposts to the arched windows, brick doorframes, and pleasing decorative details. Inside, there’s traditional charm, with exposed beams supporting high ceilings, wrought-iron fittings and wooden floors throughout. The property is all on one level but access does involve two steps. The light and airy kitchen/diner has a large table for family meals, and the cosy lounge is the perfect place to relax together and plan the next day’s outing. Adult-sized bunk beds allow for flexibility of accommodation and are solidly made in polished wood. Enjoy alfresco lunches and BBQs in the enclosed garden, or just relax in a deck chair with a good book. There’s even a handy lockable storage cupboard for bikes and beach paraphernalia.

Your nearest beach, shop and pub are in Clovelly, within 3 miles - wander steep cobbled streets to see local fishing boats in the sheltered harbour, and perhaps buy some fresh-caught seafood for the BBQ. The spectacular South West Coast Path runs through the village and offers inspiring views and secluded coves. Further afield, the pleasant market town of Bideford (11 miles away) has a quaint quayside and a bustling pannier market.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 bunk with adult-sized bunk beds
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC

  • Lockable storage for bikes
  • Accommodation is arranged on one level but includes 2 steps to the lounge
  • Parking for 2 cars
  • Travel Cot and Highchair available
  • Beach, pub and shop 2 miles

Lovely cosy cottage with a nice secure garden for our dogs. It was very well equipped & the bed was really comfy. Beautiful views although weather didnt play ball for the first few days. Would definitely recommend but unfortunately noticed they will only accept two dogs from the NY & as we have three wont be able to re-visit for awhile .

Nice cottage in a good location. No where to walk from the cottage but this wasn't a problem for us. All equipment needed is provided which is appreciated. Lovely converted barn, very comfortable. The donkeys at the bottom of the garden were great and both the children and us enjoyed hearing and seeing them. The property was clean and comfortable, the location was quiet the only downside was the nearest shop was a 15 minute drive away

A lovely property with a safe and secure garden for a large dog. Only a short drive to some lovely places to see and walk, like Clovelly, Hartland Abbey and just a little further to Northam Burrows Country Park with its lovely large sandy beach. We had a wonderful week here.
