This delightful barn conversion is set on the owner’s land amidst stunning Devon countryside, a mile north-west of the market town of Tavistock. Both the perfect retreat for friends and family and great base for exploring Dartmoor and Devon, you’ll be sitting pretty in this woodland hideaway. The fine local pub is a short stroll, and there’s a host of other lovely independent shops and eateries in town. There’s plenty to do nearby, such as the Wheal Betsy Tin Mine (4 miles), Merrivale Stones and Prehistoric Settlement (6 miles) and Buckland Abbey (8 miles). Try a spot of fishing at the on-site Tavistock Trout Fishery.

The barn’s unique feature is its split-level design, allowing both separation and integration of space for privacy and mingling. Accessed via a small set of stairs, the lovely leather sofas in the lounge offer an excellent vantage point on the well-equipped kitchen/diner. The first floor bedrooms are relaxing and luxurious, with just the right balance of elegant rustic and contemporary features. The downstairs double room, accessed via a flight of stairs, has superb country views via patio doors. Within the enclosed lakeside patio you’ll find a BBQ, seating and a fantastic hot tub, with its own woodland and water views.

There are so many day trips to enjoy. Discover gorgeous Morwellham Quay (6 miles), with its historic port, village, copper mine and railway. Explore the Cotehele estate (10 miles), with its Tudor house perched high above the River Tamar, gardens, orchards, quay and tea room. The ancient city of Plymouth is just 16 miles away, with its excellent Barbican Theatre, exciting shops, pubs, art galleries and museums. Children should try the Dartmoor Mystery Treasure Trail, which may just start a lifelong love affair with Devon and the moor.

We enjoyed our stay, the house had plenty of kitchen equipment, we asked for the heating to be longer as it had turned quite cold, which Abigail did immediately. The hot tub was great bit slippy on the patio due to the moss, and dark as the outside lights wouldnt work, so you had to tread carefully. Loved the animals especially Tommy the turkey gooRead mored week away thanks Hide

A lovely well equipped cottage in a very pretty setting. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a day on the moors. The cottage is on several levels and the stairs to the lower bedroom which gives access to the hot tub are quite steep. We loved watching the rabbits and Guinea fowl feeding outside the living room window. Dogs need to be kept on Read morethe lead around the cottage because of the animals but there are good walks up the hill at the back of the cottage. Hide

Great cottage and a fab location to explore the surrounding area. The fishery is beautiful and unwinding in the hot tub after days spent exploring the surrounding countryside was perfect.
