Escape to the charm of this country lodge-style cottage, just 5 miles from the stunning coastal town of Teignmouth. Rustic and homely with flagstone tiles and exposed beams, its woodland setting makes an enchanting backdrop to its stone and timber exterior. Take a country stroll, meet the resident farm animals and free-roaming peacocks in the owners’ grounds then come back to drink in the surrounding countryside views from the first-floor balcony.

Whatever you choose to do in this open-plan semi-detached cottage, from stepping out to a peaceful breakfast on the covered terrace to cosying up in front of a roaring wood burner on cold winter nights, you will enjoy the serenity that this beautiful slice of Devon offers. Perfect for a romantic getaway, the cottage also has an adjoining single room for a child or two who may wish to join you on a country adventure.

If the far-reaching views across to Dartmoor National Park aren’t enough, the real thing is only 7 miles away. Explore the wild, open moorlands and rich wildlife of this national treasure and then stop at one of the pretty villages for a traditional cream tea on the way home. In the other direction, Teignmouth (5 miles) is worth a day out, its Grand Victorian Pier and long sandy beaches complimenting the fine array of Georgian buildings and seafood restaurants dotted throughout the town.

Our stay at Buckleigh Lodge was one to remember. Our wonderful host Alison had such attention to detail that when we arrived to fresh flowers, fresh eggs from the chickens on the farm, milk and a bottle of wine, we knew this was going to be a wonderful stay. A perfect choice for a break, a good location for exploring the area but a rural retreat for relaxing, Stunning vews acroos to Dartmoor from the balcony, which was a perfect place to relax and watch the animals, especially the Peacocks and the chicks.

We had the loveliest weekend away. It was very last minute, as we decided very late we needed a getaway on the bank holiday weekend. Definitely follow the owners description as the satnav is inaccurate. Friendly hosts. Free firewood is great but would have liked better control over the heating in an out of season booking. Loved the peacocks!

This was a lovely little cottage and a perfect get away for new year. The peacocks were a lovely bonus to see in the mornings. You definitely need a car to get around but there is plenty in the area to go and explore. I would happily recommend this to others.

For us this was a perfect holiday. Close enough to the sea, yet with stunning views everywhere, and a lovely cosy and peaceful cottage, far enough from the town, but close enough to everything you could need. Lovely owners and the friendliest peacocks and chickens I've ever come across. This was a truly heavenly break.
