Lawrence Castle (20 miles) is a fairy-tale tower with stupendous views and wonderful circular walks. Exmouth (31 miles) is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, and one of Devon's oldest and most picturesque seaside towns with excellent festivals, seafood and walking and cycling trails. Dawlish (31 miles) is famous for its black swans and seafront railway, part of the wondrous Riviera Line, while Sidmouth (35 miles) has striking red cliffs and two beautiful beaches. Exmoor Zoo (32 miles) is a superb conservation park with otters, cheetahs, wolves and meerkats.
