After a long journey or a busy day, could there be anything more relaxing than sitting on your own private seafront balcony, drink in hand, watching the sunset over picturesque Torbay? Days here can be filled with the simple pleasures like this. Take the half-mile walk through Brixham to one of the beaches for a day on the sand, then pick up fresh fish and chips on your way home to this warm and inviting first-floor apartment.
There is something about being near to water that calms the soul, so the stunning bay views from Highlife equal the perfect retreat for those who could do with a touch of Vitamin Sea. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a welcoming space with patio doors opening onto the balcony and those magnificent views – dine alfresco out here on warm evenings to make the most of them. Both bedrooms also offer sea glimpses across the town’s rooftops, a wonderful sight to wake up to.
An attractive harbour town, Brixham lies on the southern edge of Torbay, looking back across to Torquay which can be easily reached by road or via a regular ferry service. There are several beaches within 0.5 miles of the apartment, including the sweeping sands of Breakwater Beach and the shingled Shoalstone with its fantastic saltwater lido which is free of charge. For a change of scenery, guests can stroll just a few hundred metres from the property’s front door and find themselves in the Berryhead Nature Reserve, a beautiful area of coastal landscape overlooked by an imposing lighthouse.
