Quaint, snug and cosy: this getaway ticks every rustic box. Tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Dainton amongst the South Devon countryside, this enchanting barn conversion is ideal for friends/families looking to relax. Occupying a tranquil rural setting with country walks on your doorstep, this property is also only 6 miles from the popular seaside town of Torquay on the English Riviera. Here you’ll find a wealth of shops, elegant eateries and facilities. The area also boasts plenty of natural beauty with Dartmoor National Park to the north and South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the south.
Recently renovated, the craftsmanship in this cottage is exquisite. Warm wood tones are the star of the show from original beams and classic pieces of furniture to bespoke fixtures/fittings. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is light and airy with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay. Also on the ground floor is the shower room. Up the narrow spiral staircase, you’ll find two light-filled bedrooms (a king-size and a twin zip-and-link), both of which have a TV. Their neutral decor will ensure you have a good night’s sleep. Outside, you can enjoy an al fresco meal on the terrace area whilst soaking up the far-reaching views.
With its palm trees, bustling harbour, sandy beach and a range of eateries, Torquay is popular with visitors (6 miles). It is also becoming a foodies’ haven and is part of England’s Seafood Coast. You can access the South West Coast Path from here, with Paignton (6 miles) and Brixham (11.5 miles) to the south, both of which are delightful towns with lots to offer. If seclusion is more your thing, try Babbacombe (5.5 miles), Shaldon and Teignmouth (both 9.5 miles) in the north. Another way to see the sights is from the water, taking a boat ride from Torquay or hiring a canoe/paddleboard.
