This romantic rural bolthole, just 8 miles from the edge of Exmoor National Park, is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy relaxing countryside walks directly from your front door, or simply sit back, relax, and listen to the birds singing in the magical garden. You’ll find plenty to explore on Exmoor, including the ancient Tarr Steps (13.5 miles) and the gorgeous National Trust property of Knightshayes Court, just 9 miles away.
Enter the cosy cottage via a stable door, which leads you into the open-plan lounge/diner. This is the ideal spot to snuggle up together, watching a film on the Smart TV/DVD and warming your toes in front of the roaring wood burner. The kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a tasty meal for two to enjoy together at the dining table or outside on the patio. At the end of the day, climb the cottage-style stairs to the pretty king-size bedroom. Outside, there’s a fully enclosed patio with garden furniture and, from here, steps lead down to a large lawn where you can share picnics together next to the stream.
The nearby town of Dulverton (8.5 miles), known as the southern gateway to Exmoor, is well worth a wander; discover cute cottages, historic buildings, independent boutiques, and renowned restaurants. The town is 4 miles from Tarr Steps – one of Exmoor’s hidden gems. The ancient clapper bridge crosses the River Barle and from here you can take a fabulous 2-mile woodland walk, following the river. After your walk, tuck into a traditional cream tea at the picturesque inn, with beautiful views down the valley.
