At a glance

  • An attractive cottage close to the coast and with views over the River Taw
  • The perfect getaway for couples or small families just a few miles away from the seaside
  • Set in a pretty, rural location near Barnstaple and Braunton
Property code: 83730

Tucked high above the River Taw in the quiet village of Ashford, this gorgeous cottage is great for lovers of the seaside who want to escape the hustle and bustle. The nearby vibrant village of Braunton boasts a fantastic surf culture and you’ll find golden sands and rolling waves close to home. After salty days, fire up the BBQ for a family feast or gather in the cosy lounge and enjoy a competitive night of board games.

Step up and inside and make yourself at home in this cosy abode. Find all you need in the kitchen/diner to rustle up feasts for all or delicious side dishes if warm weather calls for a BBQ. Lay the table or take a bottle outside and raise an al fresco toast to your chef before tucking in inside or out, taking care of the sloping garden if you’re enjoying some fresh air and views which reach over the Taw. Open the cupboard in the lounge and discover a selection of games and puzzles to keep you entertained before you sneak upstairs and hit the pillow in one of two bedrooms. Splashes of colour liven up the otherwise neutral interior and you can relax in either the massage chair or in front of the smart TV.

Nestled between Braunton and Barnstaple (both 3.5 miles), find a wealth of places to indulge in delicious meals away from the kitchen and enjoy nights at the theatre. Braunton is a vibrant hub of activity and is a gateway to some of the area’s best beaches. The shores of Saunton Sands (5.5 miles) are backed by one of the largest sand dune systems in the country and a pair of surf schools are great for helping you make a splash. Continue onto Croyde (8 miles) where you can stroll around Baggy Point and reward your efforts in a lively watering hole.

Cottage is on steep hill with difficult entrance via opening a gate. Issues with central heating not working very disappointing for 2 days. Also Issues with TV not working which were fixed by owners.Comfy beds and quiet. Nothing in village so had to drive to pubs.

The view from the property is lovely and it is in a great location. The Tarka Trail is no more than a ten minute walk with a very good garden centre on route. A couple of decent pubs nearby and an array of eateries in Braunton.
