This beautifully converted one-bedroom cottage on the edge of Exmoor National Park has been designed by the owners sparing no attention to detail, making this a truly unforgettable romantic getaway.

Treat yourselves to a delightful stay at this sweet cottage for two, near Shillingford, close to spectacular Exmoor. Lace up your boots and walk just over 1 mile to the edge of the national park, with its plethora of beauty spots. Set on a Devon farm, but enjoying privacy, this one-bedroom cottage features some luxurious touches and makes a great hideaway for a couple on a romantic break. Also welcoming one canine companion, it has a lovely garden, where you can relax beside the pond and take in the views across the undulating countryside.

Let yourselves into this exquisite abode and find yourselves in its open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Make a cup of tea, fire up the wood burner then settle down in front of a film before deciding what to whip up for dinner. As night falls, climb the elegant spiral staircase up to your enticing, king-size bedroom, which has some restricted head-height due to its characterful sloping ceilings and beautiful beams. Find you also have a bathroom with freestanding bath up here, where you can indulge in long, hot bubble baths. Awake to make yourselves fresh coffee in the machine to enjoy out in the sunny garden in the morning. Light the BBQ out here in the evening too. Discover you have an outside boot room, for rubbing down your dog, plus a handy utility room, with washing machine, for damp towels. Find covered parking for two cars and space to store your cycles at the cottage.

Head just 2 miles into Bampton to dine out in a pub, potter in shops and see the historical motte, which dates back to 1067. Head to picturesque Wimbleball Lake, about 5 miles away, to follow footpaths and cycle trails and to take in the enchanting views and look out for wildlife.

Lovely place to stay with lovely hosts. Just off the edge of Exmoor near to Bampton (which has all you might need) and Dulverton. Surrounded by quiet lanes which are great for cycling (e-bikes deal with the hills). Watchet is well worth a visit for its regenerative arts scene. Would recommend strongly. This really has a lovely home from home feel about it. Its perfect sized for two people with all the necessary amenities you need for your stay.
