This unique and luxurious property is situated directly on the foreshore of the historic fishing village of Lympstone with breathtaking views, and sunsets, over the Exe Estuary and beyond.  Absolutely perfect for a holiday with friends, family and romantic couples planning a very special occasion in the most splendid location

Sleeping six guests and welcoming two dogs, this stylish home is superbly situated near village amenities, beaches, countryside walks and fantastic tourist attractions. When you are done exploring, enjoy the lovely outdoor areas this property boasts.

Though this characterful cottage dates back to the 1700s, it oozes contemporary charm and thoughtful design. Enter into the bespoke kitchen, that is flooded with light and well-equipped for you to cook up a storm. Enjoy a tasty home cooked dinner together in the dining room which boasts incredible estuary views. Take a seat in the lounge, which has a warming wood burner, Smart TV and games for you to play together. A shower room and utility room complete the downstairs. There are two staircases which lead up to the first floor, one takes you up to a double and a twin bedroom while the other leads to the master suite, an impressive double bedroom with outstanding views, bespoke furnishings, a freestanding bath and a private balcony. Outside of the property is just as impressive. Enjoy the enclosed terrace with seating, a BBQ and far-reaching views. Outside of the lounge is a charming sunset passage with beautiful views of the water.

Lympstone is a pretty village with a shop and a couple of pubs. Head out on foot and enjoy the wide range of walks available from the doorstep including the fabulous Exe Estuary Cycle Trail and the South West Coast Path. Head into the historic city of Exeter (9 miles) with its eclectic and vibrant mix of restaurants, pubs and bars. For fabulous family days out, visit Powderham Castle (13 miles) or Crealy Theme Park (7 miles).

  • Parking is 200 yards away in a public pay and display car park. Free parking can also be found on some of the surrounding streets (subject to availability)

  • Beach 3 miles, shop, pub, and restaurant within very easy walking distance
  • Supermarket deliveries available to the cottage. Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco
  • Please note: Due to the property's amazing and unique location, it is accessed via a short footpath of approximately 50 yards so it is not possible to park immediately outside the cottage. Guests unload their belongings whilst temporarily parked on the road and carry them in. The Estuary is over the garden wall which runs directly outside the property’s windows and due to the character of the property, there are 2 steep cottage-style staircases.

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Our stay at Shoestring Cottage was fantastic! The views, location, proximity to the train were all great. The cottage itself is well fitted, very clean and has a great layout with lots of character. The owners were wonderful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We would highly recommend this place!

Superb location and in close proximity to a good pub, coffee shop, convenience store and train station for day trips. Cottage is well decorated throughout with superb views from the majority of rooms. Highly recommended if youre looking to stay in the area.

We loved Shoestring Cottage and had a great week even though the weather was not very kind to us. The cottage is warm, comfortable and well equipped. There are good towels and bed linen and generous supplies in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as lots of lovely treats. It felt like a home. Thank you

Lovely cottage and well equipped. Excellent location. Very dog friendly. The Swan pub is nearby and the food was delicious. We hardly used the car as the train was so handy.

What a special place Shoestring Cottage is. Arriving at such a quirky home was made all the lovelier thanks to the welcome basket, fresh scones, with jam + clotted cream and fresh flowers throughout. Diana & Martin host very well. Paddle boarding from the gate; marvelling daily at the tides; fabulous sunsets; ever changing views across the estuary;Read more star gazing; keeping track of the local family of swans with seven cygnets we loved it all. A stunning location, with water lapping at the foot of the cottage and wonderful sunsets over the estuary. Thoughtfully and stylishly equipped. Lympstone is a quiet village, with some excellent pubs and good walking, cycling and train links along the coast.

Wow!!!!! This cottage is simply beautiful. The location is stunning and the views are to die for. The owners have given so much thought to the design and layout to make the most of the views. Fabulous setting right on the edge of the estuary means you can enjoy spectacular views and sunsets. The cottage is peaceful and so comfortable. Every little thing has been thought of even down to a bag packed for a picnic on the shore or sandy beach at nearby Exmouth. Wow! WHAT a location! Simply stunning and beautifully stylish and extremely comfortable. Just adored staying here- wonderful sunsets, great pubs a minutes walk away and spectacular dog walks on the Exe trail or the East Devon way. And you dont need a car- just hop on the train and relax! Love it.
