Dating back to the 17th century, this quaint cottage makes a lovely holiday retreat for couples and families seeking a secluded spot in the heart of the North Devon countryside. Providing relaxing accommodation for up to four guests, this historic and characterful property has been tastefully updated and stylishly decorated while retaining original features including a warming wood burner, exposed wooden beams and a thatched roof. Perfect for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers the cottage is within easy reach of both the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Exmoor National Park.

Entering this picturesque cottage, the inviting lounge features plenty of seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner set in a stone fireplace, providing a relaxing space for everyone to snuggle up, chat about the day or watch a movie. The fully equipped kitchen/diner is perfect for preparing and sharing all your favourite meals. Separate staircases lead upstairs where there’s an invigorating family bathroom and a choice of two cosy king-size bedrooms, one of which can be made up as a twin room on request. Outside, the enclosed cottage garden has flowers and shrubs, with patio furniture and a hammock, making this a great spot for stargazing or dining alfresco.

The cottage makes a fantastic base for exploring both the North Devon coast and countryside with the route of the Tarka Trail passing nearby. There are numerous villages to explore, or you could head to bustling towns including Barnstaple (6.5 miles) and Bideford (14 miles), which have plenty of friendly restaurants, shops and pubs. Nearby beaches include those at Westward Ho! (15 miles) and Saunton Sands (13.5 miles), with other local attractions including The BIG Sheep, Exmoor Zoo and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (all within 16 miles).

The cottage is lovely. There is a garage for storing bikes etc. it is off the beaten track, therefore very quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday

We had a great week despite the weather being temperamental. Good facilities, comfy sofas and beds, big tv and Netflix a huge bonus plus DVD player. Dogs loved the garden, we even got to sit out a couple of times!! Lit the wood burner on a particularly chilly and wet evening which made the cottage extra cozy. This lovely cottage was recommended to us by a friend. It was perfect for our dog, large garden and secure. This meant we could relax. Gorgeous views. Everything we needed in the cottage. Only downside is felt we couldnt walk anywhere as roads are so narrow so had to drive for walks but this didnt bother us at all, just something to note. We just returned home from a lovely stay at Summermoor. The cottage was well equipped and decorated beautifully to make it homely and very comfortable. It had everything we and our two children could need. It is bright and sunny and we loved the pretty garden with apple trees. We were treated with some lovely homemade scones and bread on arrival. IRead moret was lovely to see the owners had kept a picture memory of of the cottage's previous history for visitors to see. We would happily stay here again. Hide

Very comfortable but found the bedrooms very cold. Great to have a log burner for super warmth but rather smelly/smoky. Care needed with the steep stairs. Fabulous back garden but holiday makers need to be aware of very narrow roads and lots of mud. Absolutely stunning cottage. Lovely home baked goodies when we arrived. Safe and secure back garden for our 4 legged friend. Although the cottage is remote it was so easy to access the beach at Saunton sands and exmoor national park. Slept like babies and will definitely be back.

A truly lovely cottage. The hosts were incredibly communicative which made the process so easy. There were lots of little gestures (like homemade scones on arrival) that added some personality to our stay. The cottage was well equipped for a young family, and was very cosy - the fireplace was a treasure. Lovely cottage in a peaceful location with a great garden. Sophia was always available to answer our questions. The local guide which the owners put together was super useful. Parking is plentiful and the house has all the amenities you need. We would definitely stau again.

Totally recommend this beautiful cottage. Ideal for our 2 dogs who loved the large garden. Despite our horrendous journey, we had arranged for a supermarket delivery but were mindful we werent going to make it. I messaged the owner Sophia, who without any hesitation, offered to receive it. The special touches of the flowers, bread and scones with jRead moream and clotted cream were a wonderful welcome. Seeing my Pimms she even cut her own mint for me!
