Escape to this truly magical couple’s retreat for a heavenly stay in rural Devon. It’s a charming property made from high-quality wood with a dreamy, stilted balcony above the entrance and greenery all around. You’ll be half a mile from the village of Swimbridge where you can enjoy a quiet pint too.
The inside of this quaint property will impress as soon as you enter, with its light-coloured decor and an iron spiral staircase leading up to the bedroom. In this open-plan space, there’s a comfy two-seater sofa plus a TV sitting atop a tripod – ideal for cosy film nights with your loved one. A generous amount of light streams in through the windows and French doors. The impressive hand-built kitchen units are made from natural wood for a truly unique look, and there’s a matching island with stools where you can sit and eat meals. Upstairs you’ll find a king-size bedroom, a bathroom with a sink made from a repurposed worktable, complete with its original vice. In the evenings, indulge in a long soak in the roll-top copper bathtub. The upstairs decking has a nestling spot for lounging plus plenty of space for some yoga in the trees (mats provided).
When it’s time to drag yourself away from your idyllic bolthole, you’ll find plenty of walks nearby, including in the Exmoor National Park (11 miles) where you can explore a stunning landscape of moorland, woodland, coast and rivers. Westward Ho! and Croyde (both 14 miles) are popular seaside towns you can wander around with your partner; and if you’re feeling energetic you can try out some water sports like surfing and paddleboarding.
